| [ Visit Site ] The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is a function within the Clinical Research Program in Research Development and Administration at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). The purpose of the CTO is to facilitate industry sponsored clinical trials at OHSU. The CTO provides voluntary support services to investigators and study staff prior to the start up of the study to ensure that the clinical trial can be initiated rapidly and accurately. These services include development and negotiation of the clinical trials budget, preparation of the IRB application and consent form, gaining approval of the consent form with the sponsor, submission of materials to the cancer institute and radiation safety committee as required, and completion of other required forms such as the PPQ and Research Rate Request form. The cost of the services are built into the clinical trial budget and charged to the industry sponsor. The CTO's services cover the period prior to the enrollment of the first study subject. The CTO thus alleviates the study coordinators and other staff of the burden of the "pre-award" administrative tasks, allowing the study staff to focus on subject recruitment, study conduct, and data management. The CTO also interacts with industry to bring more trials to OHSU, and it connects industry sponsors who have clinical trials opportunities with interested OHSU PIs. |
