These services are available to investigators at the University at Albany, other academic institutions, and commercial entities. Molecular Biology/Genomics: Basic services such as DNA sequencing and microsatellite/DNA fragment analysis are offered, as well as customized comprehensive molecular biology solutions including microarray analysis. Bioinformatics: A full suite of software is utilized, anchored by the GCG Wisconsin package with Grail Pro extension. Both PC and Macintosh platforms are supported, and a Silicon Graphics workstation hosts the Insight II molecular modeling software. Proteomics: Available instrumentation facilitates the biochemical characterization of proteins and nucleic acids. Microarray: Custom services for gene expression analysis using the Affymetrix GeneChip technology are currently offered. Instrumentation for two-color experiments are also available. Cell and Tissue Culture: Both small and large scale cell culture services are offered, including transfection and transformation assays and cell banking. Mouse Transgenesis: Comprehensive services from vector design and construction to microinjection and ES cell transfection are offered to facilitate the generation of transgenic and targeted gene knockout mice. Laser Capture Microdissection: Our LCM Facility can capture several hundreds of cells per session using the Autopix Laser Capture Microdissection System from Arcturus.
