| [ Visit Site ] The Center for Analytical Ultracentrifugation of Macromolecular Assemblies (CAUMA) is an institutional core facility located in the Department of Biochemistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Our mission is to assist researchers with solution-state characterization of biological macromolecules and macromolecular assemblies by means of analytical ultracentrifugation. In addition to its primary role as a resource for institutional faculty and trainees, CAUMA offers analytical ultracentrifugation services to outside investigators in both academia and industry. In conjunction with the Center for Surface Plasmon Resonance and the Center for Light Scattering we provide comprehensive hydrodynamic and thermodynamic analysis of biological samples. The facility has three analytical ultracentrifuges (Beckman Optima XLI/A), two of which are equipped with Rayleigh interference optics and one is equipped with fluorescence optics, and all instruments feature UV/visible absorption optics. |
